gonna tear into the old/new 650DP this weekend... I've never seen float nuts like this before. The carbs date code is 2416, so 1976 or 86 i'd guess.

Is there anything special i need to know about these, do i need o-rings, or gaskets or anything special for them?

I am not much help I have some of those and they are not near as hard on threads to seal off. I call them viton seats they have a o ring but Im not saying that is the correct name? but I certainly prefer them to save the threads

That is an aftermarket needle and seat set-up. Can't remember the brand though.

Looks like possibly Borg Warner replacements stuff.
I had some of these on one Holley. Tried to replace it with the factory stuff only to find my threads in the bowl were shot.....
I'll ask around....

Bringing this back up to the top...

Does anyone know how to REMOVE these?

I've got darryls extra float bowl, because the acc pump screws on mine were stripped out. I'd prefer to have the same style needle/seat adjustment stuff on the primary and secondary bowls...

I want to either take this one out of the damaged bowl to re-insatll in the new one, or get the OTHER one out, and replace it with a standard style to match the rear bowl...

I took it all apart and for the life of me and i can't figure out how to get this one out... Does someone know if there is a trick to it?

Thnx-
Ben

BTW, other than this annoyance with the float adjusters, i've got my 650dp all put back together with new stuff, hopefully find some time this weekend to stick it on and do some tuning!

There are no tricks to getting an old n/s out, but sometimes the o-ring will turn to crap and is hold the needle/seat into the float bowl. Lots of lubrication and small movements sometimes will loosen it up though.

Sledge hammer

They look like they'd come out just like a normal n/s would. Just the screw is flush with the nut instead of being on top of it. Have you tried just loosening it like a regular n/s?

Yes, i took the normal one out of the new bowl, intending to put this one in... It doesn't just turn out, you can loosen it up, but won't come out.

Yeah, like mentioned before, it's probably just a bad o-ring in there holding it in. Will it turn freely? Or does it just feel like something's still holding it in on the inside?

it turns totally freely up and down- and if you turn it out for a while it eventually "comes free" , but if you keep turning it, it will start threading out again, but hten just hits a stop.

I tried pulling on it when it was in the "free" spot, but it did no good. Its like there is a stop or a retainer on it or something.

You take the float off and see if there's a clip or something holding it in?

If you can't get it figured out, if/when I come up to grab that timing light from you we can see if two heads are better than one in trying to figure it out lol

I got them out... that one was just being a bugger- the other one came right out no problems. I finnaly got the other one out by spraying some wd40 in it. Problem was the lower set of threads were getting bound up somehow.

I think i'm just going to order a new set of needle/seats & locking nut/screws setup, so this will be all new and both sides the same.

I've got a few extra's laying around that you're welcome to Ben. They've got screws, nuts, all you'd need would be gaskets.
