ok here are all the numbers i could find om y 454 3999289 which i ran and it comes out a 72 to 79 car or truck engine but what im trying to figure out is what it was actually out of and what year it was or for the most part what year the rest of the numbers i found are

820 74
and 3999289

if any one can help with that would be great
im missing the power steering bracket and need to order one but im not positive on how to go about ordering it if the casting code say's its from 72threw 79 were they completely the same for those 7 years
and will i be able to go to auto zone and say i need a power steering bracket for a 72threw 79 gm 454

hey if any one can help mabey take a look at these sights for me caus i cant figure this out everyone keeps sending me web sights and i get the same thing that its a 72-79 454 im guessing that the 820 74 is mabey the date as in october 20 th 1974 but how do i figure out what car it was origionally in

Can you find any codes from the front of engine?
(stamped into block)
Look on top of engine in front of passenger head or pad area above the timing chain cover.
820 74? or is it B20 74 which would be Feb 20th '74. Post any numbers and letters you find from the front.

tommy to find out what the motor came from ex: impala,chevelle and such .reccord the VIN numbers from the pad at the front side of pass side just under the cylinder head. then run the VIN this will tell you what you want to know. not the casting numbers but the stamped ones and sorry about the websight post it was the wrong address anyway. hope this helps ya

ok here is what i seem top think the number reads it is pretty worn away but i think this is it

but im not to sure about the ( O ) in that number it could be a 9, 8,or 3, it was almost gone scratched off

You need to take another look at T25305RW

The T makes sense but no the 25.

The numbers where 25 are should be 01 to 12 for the month and where the 30 is should 01 to 31 for day. The 5RW does not fit either as well as having the 0 to boot?? Can you post a photo image?

these numbers are so worn away a photo image would point less im gonna try to use some metal blueing or gun blueing to see if i can get a clearer image of these numbers and the second set of numbers is out of the question the are not vissable at all

ok here is what i can get out of this the first set of numbers for the date casting is To530RW

the next set of numbers for the blocks vin is a mystery i can only come up with c as the first character and 37 as the last 2 numbers every thing in the middle is completely gone if i cant figure out what this is out of will it matter when i order a power steering pump bracket since the casting number is3999289 which makes it from 72 to 79 are the all pretty much the same

With a C+ as the partial vin I believe it is a Chevy truck engine. The only truck code close I can find is TRW for 74 or 79.
74 truck 454/245hp LS-4
79 truck 454/210hp LF-8
With the casting year of 74 you listed I would say it's the 74 model.

now i can hopefully order a power steering pump bracket and get this engine fired up in my 66 chevelle
