What is the differnce if any, between the Muncie 1964 4 sp shifter reverse rod # 3841493 and the 1965-67 4 sp shifter reverse rod # 3862915?
1st & 2nd and 3rd & 4th rods appear to be the same and have the same part #'s (3841494 & 3841495 respectively). Thanks.

I don't know why there was a part number change. I have never seen a difference in the reverse rods. The lever is different maybe there was some small difference on the rod to match. I have a few of these rods, I will look them over tonight when I get home.

Thanks Tom, I have two of these rods and they both look the same, so was wondering if I had a 64 or a 65-67 rod. The only difference I see is that the clevis nuts on one rod are a little ticker than on the other rod.
On what I think is the 64 lever the offset and location of the mounting holes, might make the rod a little different than the 65-67 rod. What do you think ? And if there are in fact two different rods, which ones do I have? Thanks, Jim

I didn't believe they were different, so I lined 'em all up and the only difference is a slight variation of length on the threaded end. About a quarter of an inch.
I think any of the other variations must be within tolerance for a forged part.
I'm with you, this must be the difference.
On your rod, those big nuts are wrong. (insert joke here) :D

Thanks Tom. Do you just collect these shifter parts? As you know I have some extra parts that I will have to try to sell on ebay or TC. Might you be interested in any>
