We are ready for a transmission pan for our new GM 4L60 (It came with a stock, no drain plug pan). Have talked to a few guys in our area who really like their DERALE Pan Cooler pans (3-7/8" deep). Others really like their B&M Chrome Pans (Both stock and deep pans). A few who used Aluminum Pans switched after cracks from flying objects/bottom outs, etc.

Which one seems to be the best/most reliable?

By the way, we ordered our LOKAR Shifter yesterday as we feel it will be the strongest with the rod hookup(s).

Any info greatly appreciated.

I don't recommend using a chrome pan. It retains heat which isn't good for your trans. Black is best. A deep plain steel pan, with a drain plug, painted black is the best choice. You could install a drain in the stock pan and paint it black.

LVMAXX, I put a chrome B&M pan on my 4L60 in my Blazer and it leaked constantly, I tried three different kinds of gaskets and nothing stopped it. Yes, I followed their instuructions as to which gasket to use and nothing worked. My 0.02.

the deeper the pan the better, spend your $$ on a large cooler

deeper pan does = less ground clearance

i have the tci aluminum but it had to be ground with a die grinder on the inside to clear the linkage

I'm with your friends with the "DERALE" pan, I have run mine three summers in the Palm Springs area + two B&M coolers. No leaks, tranny has the same snap from day one. You are only 10-15 degrees cooler than me during the summer months so go with it.
