I have a 71 Chevelle and want a new gas tank. Searching the forum I see the Spectra Premium tanks are highly recommended. The stock replacement GM34U has three vent tubes. I really don't need all the vents because I am not using charcoal canisters or whatever else they used to hook up to. Is there another tank that will work that maybe only has one vent or something? Should I just use the stock replacement and cap some of the vents?
Guess what I'm getting at is... What's the easiest gas tank set-up for my situation?

make sure you check out RockAuto before you order. They seem to have the best prices by far and there are discount coupons floating around for themm as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I already planned on buying from them.

Get the one for the 70 if you are not running the EEC.

I see that one has no vent. Are the vented gas caps pretty good about not letting fuel out on hard acceleration?
I also see there are different sending units for 70 and 71. Does it matter which one I get? I assume the fuel gauges are the same ohms for both 70 and 71?

The ohms should be the same for all, just get the correct sending unit for the tank you get.

My stock, original, 1970 vented cap has never leaked on acceleration, however, I cannot say with any certainty what the repop caps are like.

Thanks for the help. I'll try the 70 setup. The caps are advertised as anti-surge, so hopefully they'll do as advertised.
Also want to add that autopartsgiant.com ended up being cheaper than rockauto in my situation.
