I just bought a 71 Chevelle/Malibu and am confused if it is a Malibu or Chevelle. The VIN # is 134371B162184. The previous registration says Malibu. I am curious if my registration/title should state Chevelle or Malibu or whether it matters? Also, what is the difference between the two? If anyone can give any help, I'd appreciate it. I have searched around a few websites, but couldn't find anything to clearly answer my questions.

Does not really matter what you state registration says.

btw - - you have a Chevelle, not a Malibu

13437 - Chevelle V8
13637 - Malibu V8

Malibu is a model option on a base Chevelle, much like a Caprice is a dressed up Impala. In 71, the 'Chevelle' had a 133 or 134 VIN while the Malibu is 135 or 136. You may find 'Chevelle' badges, nametags, etc on a Malibu but not the other way around.
