My 71 Chevelle is currently being back halved right now. Before the job it had:
12 bolt, stock length, stock axles, posi, all rear suspension was stock set up type. The gas tank was removed and 20 gallon fuel cell installed, 6 point bar and battery in trunk. No back seat and all factory metal throughout. 29x12 BFG drag radials (295/60/15) on Centerline Auto Drag wheels, drum breaks.
The back half job will narrow the 12 bolt to fit 33x22 Mickey Thompson radials on Weld Prostars with 4 inch back space so the rear end will be quite narrow. Aftermarket race axles, keeping drum brakes, four link, new rear frame with the fuel cell and tin work up the the seats. 6 point bar will stay (with rear ones moved over ect)
I know the only way to really know is to weigh it when it's done but I wonder if anyone else has done this and found a weight difference either way? The car is 3550 without me in it now so hope to drop some but if not more HP will be in order :)
