Tony1967 Mar 26th, 09, 5:03 PM Go to www.window-sticker.com great company - I have bought repro window stickers from them - give them the vin and all the options - they have all the prices, etc. Look like the real deal - they will laminate them if you want. Great company, reasonable prices when I last looked. Tell them Tony from Too Cool Car Stuff sent you. Email or PM me if you have any other questions. Have not yet seen any one doing repo build sheets. hioctane33 Mar 27th, 09, 10:59 PM thanks for the help. i am not wanting this for the purposes of deception. this car has been in my family since new and i just wanted the sheet to see the options listed out myself. i have looked under the front seat as well but not behind the door panel, hadn't heard of it ever being located there, so thats a new one! thanks. is there anywhere online i can punch in my vin # and get a list of options the car came with? thanks again!!! Bill Pritchard Mar 28th, 09, 2:07 PM is there anywhere online i can punch in my vin # and get a list of options the car came with? :noway: james1967 May 26th, 09, 10:09 PM The best I have found is on E*B*A*Y the user id is vin-number-aged Where talking window stickers build sheets and a few other things they have... I bought from that site and I couldnt be more satisfied! they have 100% feedback stating how great there work is so your safe there! good luck Bill Pritchard May 27th, 09, 12:03 AM James, you should be really proud of yourself for perpetuating a fraud and helping some scumbag stay in business  You won't find too many members on this site who share your enthusiasm for that eBay seller, regardless of his feedback rating  TCSS1970 May 27th, 09, 12:24 AM I think he means where can he buy a FAKE .... and hopefully that will not be endorsed here at Team Chevelle.. if you can't find in car, then let it go. end of story. Its not fake it'll be cloned.:D But seriously I don't see anything wrong with doing a fake (aka cloned) build sheet as long as you keep it crisp and new looking and its obvious that its not original. Paying a couple hundred bucks to get one aged....now your crossing into dangerous territory. Now I guess you could say somebody will try to pass it as real. If thats the case there going to age it anyhow and try to fake it. I have metal stamps in my tool box but I don't restamp engines. Its all about whether or not you are trying to deceive. 66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE May 27th, 09, 9:33 AM James, you should be really proud of yourself for perpetuating a fraud and helping some scumbag stay in business  You won't find too many members on this site who share your enthusiasm for that eBay seller, regardless of his feedback rating   You got the right Bill!! Call it whatever you want and rationalize it with anything that makes you feel good... it's all BS.. Nice first post for that fella  czeto May 27th, 09, 10:48 AM If a reproduction window sticker is a fraud what is a front fender made in Taiwan? How about reproduction dash knobs made in China. Come on guys, 99% of us have cars that are frauds? We all try to "restore" our cars the best we can BUT do not pass off this stuff as "original" . CT Mark May 27th, 09, 11:02 AM If a reproduction window sticker is a fraud what is a front fender made in Taiwan? How about reproduction dash knobs made in China. Come on guys, 99% of us have cars that are frauds? We all try to "restore" our cars the best we can BUT do not pass off this stuff as "original" . If you can't make the distinction between reproduction parts and reproduction documentation ...complete with patina....then I'd doubt anything I could say would dissuade you. I look at it this way, repro parts are like fake boobs where repro documentation is like a phony birth certificate proving you are somebody else. I'm not sure of the motives of the original poster here but I would say stay away from the fake docs....regardless of whether or not your motives are pure. JMO. Bill Rose May 27th, 09, 11:28 AM Hey Mark! Whats wrong with fake boobs :D BLURAT72 May 27th, 09, 4:52 PM x2:beers: Trophyman May 27th, 09, 5:17 PM Well........ ahem..... attention. I did a total restoration on my car. No re-pop parts used. I commissioned GM to make the molds and make me 1 of every part in the car. My car is original. Cost was $5,(485 zeroes). Just like on the auctions "Totally original, except for the battery, tires, etc." EXCEPT is a big word. We all have opinions........ some should be kept to ourselves. Whoosh--- let the flaming begin !!!!!!! :D Randy Racing May 27th, 09, 7:52 PM  TC is notorious for having links posted to VIN plates, Window Stickers and Build sheets. Hang around here for a while and you'll find what you need. Rich02 May 27th, 09, 8:05 PM Hey Mark, those fake boobs are a dead give-away and congratulations on your award. Rich02 CT Mark May 27th, 09, 9:43 PM Hey Mark! Whats wrong with fake boobs :D Honestly Bill, I'm not a big fan. :noway: CT Mark May 27th, 09, 9:46 PM We all have opinions........ some should be kept to ourselves. Whoosh--- let the flaming begin !!!!!!! :D Randy Randy, All opinions are welcome here. 66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE May 27th, 09, 9:51 PM Funny thing is.. I have no idea what the Hell Randy said  but as Mark said.. all opinions welcome... .. we may not lik em.. but they are welcome  czeto May 28th, 09, 11:16 AM Mark, I really am open minded and you (or anyone) can change my mind. This subject always starts some lively conversation. To me, the decision is where do you draw the line and what do you claim? Unless you are in the show circuit or you try to sell you car as something it is not, I believe the owner has every right to do what pleases him/her. If Mike wants a sticker, let him go for it. CT Mark May 28th, 09, 8:49 PM Alex, If that's the case, I would urge Mike to keep the stuff if/when he sells the car. I can almost guarantee it will end up as a deception down the road. Seen it happen many times. Merlin May 29th, 09, 11:08 AM Over the years, I have tried to steer clear of this topic, but since "all opinions are welcome", I guesss I'll toss in my two cents worth... Virtually every printed document, manuscript, or visual graphic that you can imagine, from an original window sticker to the "Mona Lisa", has been copied, faked, counterfeited, or otherwise reproduced by someone at some point for whatever reason. Most of the time this activity is not illegal. The ethics of such activity may be another topic altogether. My opinion is, that anytime we purchase something that has a value, real or perceived, that is based on documentation, it is our singular responsibility to validate that documentation. And the best way to do that is to arm ourselves with knowledge. A stamp collector knows how to spot a fake. So do collectors of paper money, old books and manuscripts, or art. This is not to say that they will never get duped, but for the most part they know what they looking at. A photographers lupe from the dollar bin at Harbor Freight, and a modicum of knowledge regarding offset printing and/or laser printers, can in most instances, quickly differentiate a well-executed fake window sticker from the real McCoy. I don't care how well "aged" it is. The bottom line I suppose, is the adage "Buyer Beware". But to that I would add,"Buyer be Informed". Particularly if the documentation accounts for at least some of the cars value. If you don't want to bother validating documentation, you could always buy a '68. ;) On a personal note... I have recreated my own window sticker and reconstructed my body broadcast sheet, for display at shows. It's a nice touch that people seem to enjoy looking at. I have no intent to ever offer them as original documentation for the purpose of deception. And to deter anyone else from ever trying to pass them off as original, my documents include a large watermark that reads... –FACSIMILE– For Display Purposes Only! Humans always have and always will try to deceive one another for various reasons. The best thing we can do is protect ourselves with knowledge. Knowledge is Power! czeto May 29th, 09, 4:06 PM Amen |
