Looking for some help. I'm finishing up the metalwork on my 71 Chevelle 2dr. I'm missing lots of the welded on tabs that the trim clips slid onto. I have a stud gun that has the tabs and tips to weld them on. Is there an attachment to help me get into the channel to do this?? I can weld them on to a flat panel with no problem.

Are you saying the Glass is in the car? If so its gona be hard, you will need to remove the glass to do this. Once the glass is out its easy. I dont understand the question. I hope this helps

I had the same problem on my '70 after replacing some of the metal. I know some members will probably suggest using screws but I didn't want to make holes in the body. I made an adapter using copper pipe for the outer conductor. I also made a cut in the copper so that the center conductor would sit at the right height. I then used a brass rod with matching tapers to extend the inner conductor. I can post a quick sketch if you don't get what I'm saying. The tool is still in NJ as I am still relocating to Fla. otherwise I would post a photo.

Yes, the rear window is out. I has some rust issues in this area. Most of the tabs were replaced with screws. I want to put the tabs back on. I would love to see what you did to your gun. As it sits right now it welds at an angle and even arked a hole in the channel. I'll weld that back up tonight.

My Uni Spotter deluxe kit came with 1005 Body molding tip, 1003 Body molding rivets, 1041 Eliminator Body ... I filed the side of the 1041 Eliminator Body so I can weld the stud in square and at the correct height in the channel. Pretty sure the attachments will fill most brands of stud guns.

The eliminator kit that gene sc refers to above is basically the same as the pieces I made except for the 1041 eliminator body. My piece is all round except for a cut out that places the tip at the right height. The kit ( #1040 The Eliminator http://www.tcpglobal.com/AutoBodyDepot/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=HAS+1040 ) is about $50.
