I have what I believe to be a 350 SBC crate engine. The pad is stamped V0527TMT. Can anybody tell me what I have here or where I could look to find out? Thanks.

V0527TMT is a truck engine, first letter T in suffix denotes a truck application.

TMT could be a SB 350-160hp 2-bbl carb truck engine 1975,76,77 or 1980 350-155 hp 4-bbl carb.

So, not a crate engine. What makes you think its a crate engine?

It is in a street rod that a friend just bought and he and I are working on it. The seller told him it was a 350 crate engine that he put in it in the late 90's. I was with him when he bought the car and the seller really seemed legit.

Probably the original buyer's meaning of a crate engine...after all, it might have come to him in a 'crate'. Ah, but who cares about correct terminology, right?

I'll bet the seller never once thought you would check it out, hey? Be careful of believing everything a seller tells you, they have been known to bs a buyer.
