A & F-car tilt column papers
Here are links to the A & F-car tilt column papers. All you ever wanted to know (and more) about replacing your tilt column rack. You can replace the rack with the column in the car but it is a real pain trying to adjust the ignition switch with the new rack. It is far easier to remove the column. Take off the capsule mounting bracket (the bracket where the two vertical fasteners pass through the aluminum capsules) that holds the column up into the dash. Tighten your vise on two of the bracket weld nuts that are in-line.
