: Rocker panels on 1970 SS cars ?
Arken Mar 25th, 09, 3:12 AM Hi
I am a fan of rocker panels on Chevelle cars. I was just to buy some for my Chevelle SS 1970 when a friend of mine toldme that there wasn´t any SS cars with rocker pansels delivered original in 1970. Have seen some pics of -70 SS Chevelles with rocker panels here on Team Chevelle. So my blequessition is : Was it possible to get rocker panels on your 1970 Chevelle SS ?

TCSS1970 Mar 25th, 09, 7:03 AM They all have rocker panels but I'll assume you mean chrome ones. They did not as far as believed leave the factory with them intentionally as part of the ss package. It is believed that several left with them on but I'm not sure if it can be documented since no one on here can tell me what box on the build sheet they are in and what is the exact code to call them out. But they look better to me. Some don't like them. Each his own.!
ELSSIX Mar 25th, 09, 10:52 AM Chrome rocker moldings were NOT standard on 70-72 SS Chevelles. BTW, nice Chevelle, GREAT color combination!
oldtimebaseballfan Mar 25th, 09, 11:02 AM Tomas, that is a nice looking car. As stated before, the rocker moldings were not part of the SS option.
Also, there is not an option code for the moldings.
Since they were part of the Malibu package, most people think they hurt the value of an SS.
If you are concerned about future value, be careful if you put them on because many people will think it is a Malibu and not an SS and the value could be hurt.
Dean Mar 25th, 09, 11:29 AM A few people have posted documentation of rocker moldings on 70-72's
Personally, I like them myself but I did remove mine to keep people from saying #^&$(_@&. :D
Arken Mar 26th, 09, 11:11 AM Hi and thanks for the info. Will not put chrome rockers on the car then.
According to the builds sheet the car setup origin was :
Cranberry red
White striping
Interior Ivory
Vinyl Top : White
So whats left to do,makeing the car as original is the Interior. I will get a Ivory one, but its no hurry since the present black interior was new 2007 .
By the way. Do have the SS Rally Wheels from origin. Shifts between the wheels now and then...
Rich-L79 Mar 26th, 09, 12:38 PM That car would look smokin' hot with the Ivory interior back in it!
SPARK69 Mar 26th, 09, 1:10 PM as far as i know it was not an option on the 70 ss cars!! could be wrong??
Chris R Mar 26th, 09, 2:53 PM A member of our local Chevelle club has a 70 SS El Camino that is that cars exact sister. Vynil top and all.
Arken Mar 26th, 09, 5:49 PM Sister of my car ? I hope you meant brother, "little" brother..
Thanks again all.... Best Regards from Tomas / Sweden
Robinls5 Mar 27th, 09, 9:04 AM Rocker panel "Bright Trim" on 70 -SS Coupes & SS El Caminos. I agree, It was not part of the Z-15-Z-25 Pkg. I will bet the FARM, Some SS cars & SS Caminos left different plants with Bright trim on the rockers. JMO....
