: 05 Chevy/GM trucks: Speedo settlement!
Sid Coleman Mar 24th, 09, 11:46 PM For those of you that have the bad gauge cluster problems, GM has finally settled on the 05 models (03 & 04 already covered). Might have to push the dealer, I knew more than my local dealer :)

BlueSS454 Mar 25th, 09, 12:02 AM Hmmm, I wonder if they will do anything about the fuel gauges too.
Alan Mar 25th, 09, 12:34 AM too bad there was't a settlement on '05 CD players and rear ext. door windows  . No problems with the speedo...yet.

Yeah, Everyone I know with an 05 now has a busted CD player, me included. VERY annoyed by that.
And I have the gauge problems but not with my stock cluster. The 05 Escalade cluster I bought new from an authorized GM parts dealer sticks. It makes a whistle like noise (very low) and often the speedo sticks and I am doing 40 MPH at a stoplight.
I wonder if they will cover given that its a GM part from a GM dealer and was installed in my GM truck.
JWagner Mar 25th, 09, 12:40 PM I have a '96 Caprice with one of those digital speedos that work on some days. Sure would like to know if that had been covered. Is there a list of vehicles involved in this?

BULKSS Mar 25th, 09, 7:33 PM Cool I had been wondering about this . My speedometer has been acting up and I am due for my regular service. Perfect Timing Thanks Sid.
Wooderson Mar 25th, 09, 7:57 PM Why don't they just leave well-enough alone, and quit re-designing this stuff?
BlueSS454 Mar 25th, 09, 8:48 PM The CD player in my '04 took a crap after it was 3 months old. That kinda made me
Sid Coleman Mar 25th, 09, 9:29 PM Glad it helped someone :)
Yeah, my fuel gauge jumps from full to empty randomly, we just just the 'fuel used' on the DIC, after 20 gallons or so, fill 'er back up. figure it's the sending unit, which if combined with the pump (in some models) is like $1500 to repair. Arrrrrgh! Plus that tank looks like a @#%%$^ to drop!
And pray the CD player doesn't crap out: is it the single one or the multi-disk unit that's failing??
Alwhite00 Mar 26th, 09, 5:36 AM The CD player in my 04 will not eject the cd, Good thing I like the one that is in there. :D

Bowtie-72 Mar 26th, 09, 4:54 PM I saw something from GM yesterday stating 05 clusters are covered until 80,000 now, up from 70.

Tom, I have one, I can bring it to the next meeting if you wanna try it. LMK.
It looks like you gotta be part of the Class Action for that settlement to work for you.
Sid Coleman Mar 26th, 09, 7:35 PM I didn't join the class action (was in place before I bought the truck), and I'm covered; they only go by VIN and build date.
As far as the 80K goes, up to 70K, they cover everything. 70-80K, they will supply the cluster, you have to pay for removal, installation, and programming the new cluster...at least that's what they told me.
