I can't find the VIN though. I'd like to know if this is a true big block car. It's got the 400 emblem on the front. Thanks.

Are you saying that the vin# is not on the driver's side front dash, visible from the outside thru the windshield? If you do find the vin, since this is a '72 model, you can tell which motor came in the car via the fifth digit. Here's the breakdown:
"D" = 250 6 cylinder
"F" = 307
"H" = 350 2bbl
"J" = 350 4bbl
"U" = 402
"W" = 454
NOTE: If it's a "W" that also proves it's an SS because the 454 was only available on a SS. Of cours none of this is any good unless you find the vin#.
I hope this helps.

A Sprint would be an SD I think.

The Sprint was called an SP not a SS
To properly ID the vehicle for you we need all the info from the body tag and we also need all the info from the VIN. When you block out data, it makes it hard to determine things and many will not even bother to respond to those inquires.

If it still has the original "400" emblem on the grille, that it is almost certainly an original LS3 (402) big-block car because that emblem is very rare and IMPOSSIBLE to find.

The part that you "grayed out" in the image is the body sequence number, and it has nothing to do with the VIN.
