Any help in decoding the cowl tag and/or referring me to a link that has a comprehensive cowl tag decoder would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Im going to give this a shot. I beleive you have a 2dr.sport coupe made in baltimore with dark blue rian cloth w/dark blue coated fabric on bendh seats seating 5 and ascot blue paint with black vinyl top or black convertable top? if these dont jive with what you have try (chevelle stuff on the web). but you are definatly on the right web site for chevelle info this site rocks.

Thanks alot Grady and Dale for your help. Without it I would have no idea what was original on this car as the previous owner tried in vain to customize the vehicle.

Just to let ya'll know, there are two books both entitled "Chevrolet By The Numbers". I wound up buying both books for the different years that they cover, and they offer all the information you could want from tags, to engine numbers, to rearends, and even transmission and much more. These books have really helped me in the search for my first car(first muscle car), I am 19 and cant afford to make costly car mistakes. And Grady, you are right, This Site Does ROCK!!!!!!

One thing about books (the ones you mentioned are good) is that they all prone to have errors and omissions. One thing one of the years series of CbtN books mentions is that the trim tag contains option codes. While this is true of some years and some plants, its not true of all but the book never mentions this. So people read this in the book and assume every car is like that.

Just keep that in mind and use several sources to verify information.
