i just picked up a 350 from a friend that came with a set of rebuilt 14101083 heads on it. Mortec says that they are 87 and newer and were used on the 285 and 300hp crate motors. they originally came from the 87 Caprice cop car motor that i used as a basis for the vortec/HOT cammed 355- so i know a bit of the history of these heads.
ayways, are these the crappy "swirl port" heads, or are they TPI heads, or are they just something else? the 350 itself is tired- i rebuilt it (with crappy 441 heads- these heads were rebuilt and put on later) back in 1996 on the tailgate of a GMC pickup using a cheap Northern kit- but i think that since these are 64c heads, they should work ok with a set of thin head gaskets on the L69 305 short block for my 86 Monte SS. that motor has flat top pistons, so i think that with thin head gaskets the compression ratio should be alright..
