Ok here it goes:
I have an MSD pro-billet setup, non HEI. I bought a painless remote solenoid and hooked it up off my stock starter as follows:
1) large cable from battery to ford solenoid
2) large cable from solenoid to starter
3) orig wire from small "R" post on starter (furthest away from block) to the "I" post on the solenoid
4) orig wire on the small (closest to block)"S" post to the "S" post on the solenoid.
5)Installed a jumper from the large post on starter to small "s" post on starter. When i go to start it, it starts up, then the stater will not stop!!! This is a stock replacement starter. What could be causing this. I just swapped the wires?? Could it be the way my MSD is wired? The guy who installed it still has the ballast resistor on the firewall wired because he said it wouldn't shut off with out it. It has been working for the last 5yrs, but now when I swap the wires this is happening? any ideas?
