Did the '65 w/air come with outlets built into the outer ends of the dash?
I want to add a/c to mine but don't want "add-on" looking vents.
Thanks.

Yes,
1964 and 1965 Chevelles have Vents on both ends of the Dash and one in the top of the Dash Bezel where the word Chevelle would be on a Non A/C car.

I purchased my first 64 Malibu SS that was supposedly a Factory A/C Chevelle. Upon closer inspection, the prior owner hacked out the Non Air Firewall to accomodate the Factory A/C equipment. I had to get a section of firewall from another 64 Malibu. I drilled out the factory spot welds and made 2 non factory seams. The first seam was in the middle of the firewall, behind the motor. The second seam was just above the line before the firewall kicked back into the toe board. I plug welded everything back together and butt welded the seams that were added. I had all of the correct A/C accessories and once installed, you would never know, except if you knew what to look for on the Cowl Tag in the Second Group (K). I also had to measure for the dash vents correct location and made a template from a Factory A/C Dash. I traced the cutouts and made the openings with a Plasma Cutter. My point is that you can do a conversion to Factory Air correctly, but it takes a lot of time and patience to locate all of the correct parts.
