Hi everyone my name is Sean jr. this is my first post. I bought my first 68SS chevelle about 6 months ago.

Last week i removed my interior and all the cars weather stripping. I started to look for any stamped numbers i can find. My vin and trim tag match to my paperwork but i found i few others numbers do these look right?

13837 vin and trim tag

Z18 13437 inside middle top of rh door

?14 13437 inside middle top of lh door

18(6 or G) 13437 next to RH trunk hinge on quarter

??(6 or G) 13437 next to LH trunk hinge on quarter

My question is why all the 13437 numbers when i have a 13837 car? The RH quarter was replaced a few years back and the past owner gave me some pic's of the GM full quarter being installed and that number is 13437. Could 13437 be a gm part number ?

pretty sure these numbers show which parts go to the different cars
I noticed on a 4 door I just gutted and stripped the same type of numbers (not the same as yours though)
I think these were 13469 yet the vin was 13669
the vin number should match on the cowl underneath the heater box and also the blower motor (e.g. 138378B276567 you would find 8B276567 in these two locations)

Thanks... Tom's 68 for your response. I don't see any numbers underneath the heated box on the cowl but i will remove the cover to see if there stamped behind it. I'm just trying to learn about gm stamped numbers here.

Also there looks to be two rows of numbers stamped into the drivers side rear of the frame next to where the exhaust exits but i can't read them clearly because the frame is very pitted in that area.

those are the part number for the frame
the numbers on the firewall you need to remove the blower motor housing (engine side) and they will be 1\2" below lower lip of rectangular hole and about 1" below circular hole

These are the date and die stamp ID from the sheet metal stamping plant. A 13437, 13637 and 13837 would use the same sheet metal.
