Must be a Baltimore tag (?) - need to be specific as different assembly plants used different schemas. Nobody I know of has a definate answer on what the letter "B" indicates. The "0016" is part of the Data Processing Sequence number found in block 24 of the build sheet. Used for internal plant tracking but can also help confirm the build sheet (if you have it)to the car.

I have 5 Baltimore tags. Four have "B D" and one has "B" in the location you mention. The only noticable difference is in 3 of the 4 with "B D", the trim code is readable and the trim code is for bucket seats. The single one with just the "B" has a bench seat trim code. Possibly (with a great deal of this isn't factual) the "D" is for a console. That doesn't help the "B" code and with so few samplings, I'd hesitate to say the "D" is for a console, but that's just a preliminary observation...again not a known fact.

Four of the five have a readable number or letter above the BDY stamping; "1", "2", "5", and "O" or "0" (zero). To my knowledge, the explanation for these are not known either.
