just swapped a 283 p/g for 350 th350 still putting it all back together one question i have is how does the kickdown work on this i have a edelbrock carb and bought a aftermarket chrome bracket the kickdown popped right in and seems to be good but what next does the cable on the kickdown pull out as the you give it gas and be allthe way out on full throttle?

I just did the same install on a 71 chevelle. It goes from the carb to the trans. A motors manual or a TH350 manual will help, you can find them on ebay. By the way, what model edelbrock are you using and have you ever worked on an edelbrock? I have a 1411 and something isn't right and I have always used holleys and I'm not familiar with edelbrock. Mine revs like it should but under a load it bogs down and will not accelerate?
thanks

The kickdown on a 350 will be loose on the throttle and will engage at full or near full throttle. It won't be moving as soon as the throttle moves. I don't even think there is enough play in the cable to set it wrong. Some guys don't even have it hooked up and downshift by hand.

Let me go snap a pic. Did you want where it mounted on the carb and manifold at?

If you pull on it you should be able to feel the detent engage in the transmission. To properly adjust, pull out the little tab on the kickdown cable (the grey button, you can pry it up) to allow it to move, then have someone hold the throttle completely to the floor. It should pull out some. (if it doesn't there was too much slack, push it in some and try again.) Push the grey button back down and that's it.
