The "8" could be a B for black vinyl top...does it have one? DO a search on SS id and there is a ton of info. Nothing from the vin on a 69 tells you if its a real SS. CTX is a 395-350 from a 70 Chevelle. Circa means it is from around that time period ie late 69 or 70 but will not add valie to the car as it is not original to the car.

52 8 has to be 52 B. Thats the only codes that make sense. Just because the vinyl top is not there today, does not mean it did not come with one and this 52 B proves it did.

Paint colors were numbers, vinyl and convertible tops were coded as letters;

examples

52 52 means one solid paint color (Lower/Upper)
52 10 means 2 tone
52 B means vinyl top color is black or in the case of a rag-top (13667) the top color


In the paint section when 2 codes are shown, first is always the lower color and the second it always the upper or top color.
