I'm talking with a guy about buying a 12 bolt rear and the numbers he found are as follows, GB 0615 , can anybody decode that for me?

It's under a 70 elky. I have not yet seen it but a friend confirmed that it passed the simple posi test(turning hub)and the pinion turned about 3 1/2 turns to one turn of the axle.

Any additional info will be appreciated!!!

There is a GB code for 70/71 that is a 2.56 posi but gears could have been changed. The 0615 should be June, 15.

I'm hoping it's a 3.31 or 3.55, guess I wont know for sure till I get there and pull the cover.

UPDATE

Good news, bad news

Won't fit my 72, it's 60 1/2" with drums and has flat sping perches.

But, it has an Eaton posi and 3.31 gears that appear to be in very good condition, and, the price was right so I bought it anyway.

I'll keep searching for a 68-72 rear. Maybe I'll get lucky and find somebody with one to swap it with.

Looking back through earlier years, there is a GB coded 65 (2.73's for a 327/glide). That would explain the flat spring mount and, definately, the 60.5" width. But hey, there are a lot of 64-66 guys out there looking for rear ends. Seems they're harder to come by than the 68-72's. Maybe work someone a deal?

I posted an ad in the members classified in hopes of finding a good swap and I'm also looking hard locally.
