Does anyone know if an LS5 (1970) block was 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains from the factory? And whether it makes sense to get "290" castings as heads from the factory on a 1970 LS5? And what sort of #'s or stuff should I expect on the intake manifold? And any info on how to ID the what I believe to be the carb that came on the motor?
I have the casting # 3963512, but I can only make out what appears to be "6617" for the date code, but that makes no sense from what I can tell?
thanks alot..

1970 LS5:
Block - 2bolt,
heads - 3964290,
intake - 3955287 (cast iron)
Are you sure that the '6617' isn't upside down and it is 'L 19 9' or December 19, 1969?

I will investigate this further... I am dropping off the fuel pump at the shop where the car is thursday, and I can check out the intake manifold in my storage unit when I get the parts wednesday. The code I have written down off the pad in my engine bay is just this: T1230CRQ.
I take that to mean tonawanda engine plant, but the 12 30 is that assembled january 23 1970? The car was shipped in februrary. Make sense? or not? Did I read it wrong?
If that is the case,
You can't imagine the feeling when I got a call from the shop saying they thought the block was from a different year.
I have to wonder this though.. there is no VIN above the oil filter. The block there is pretty smooth.. I thought it was odd too, and the shop its at today, the guy said it looks like it was ground, or filled then ground, or smoothed somehow.

Actually the assembly date would be December 30, 1969.
CRQ is for LS5 with automatic.
