1970 Chevrolet 454/390HP LS5, manual transmission.

Dave is correct, a 1970 full size chevy 454/390 hp 2 bolt main ls5 but with a turbo 400 trans,and casting # should be 3963512.

99.999999%,it's a 2 bolt,but you never know 100% until you pull the pan.

Thanks again guys, I am picking the motor/trans up this weekend. Dave, I paid what I thought was fair for the drivetrain not knowing its history, but the guy swears it's standard bore and ran fine before being removed. I hear ya on the weather, that's why I moved out here from WI!

Finally got the motor today. Do all these codes look correct for a 1970 454/390hp?

Distributor: 1111963
Water pump: 23969811
Exhaust manifolds: 3916178, 3914619
Block: 3963512
Transmission (Turbo 400): CR

can help w/all but the trans. code,but the first 4 items are all correct for that application,except the left exhaust # should be 3914613

I thought the subject of 1970 LS5s having 390HP had been gone over and over and that it was determined that the LS5s all were rated at 360HP and that the 390HP rated motors came only in Corvettes. What in the numbers posted here tell you guys that this is a 390HP motor and not a 360HP? The reason I ask is because when my brother and I bought our LS5 it had the 390HP sticker on the air cleaner lid and when we called the guy who restored the car 10 years ago we asked why he put that sticker on it instead of the 360HP sticker he said that he bought the car in original condition and when he restored it he replaced the sticker with what had been there before. When I inquired here at TC everyone said the LS5s were all 360HP. I confused.

Bruce, this motor is out of a Caprice and was rated at 390hp.

Sorry to bring this back up. Anyone know if the LH exhaust manifold (3914613) will fit a 69 Camaro?

1969 camaro used #879 and #178 manifolds, the 613 has a different angle where the exhaust pipe connects to it....71 and 72 chevelle manifolds are exact replacements.
