My brother finally got his 69 Pontiac back. It has been at "Muscle Car Restorations Inc" in Chippewan Falls, WI for about 2 years.

Here is the history. Car was originally bought brand new by our dad in 69. Started out life as a Laurentian 350 two barrel, single exhaust, turbo 350 auto, 12 bolt 3.08 non posi. After many engines, home and other restorations my brother decided to have a complete frame off, acid dipped restoration with every single part and bolt brand new that needed it. It was an extremely expensive restoration (without saying numbers) due to you can't just buy parts for this car from Year One or other popular car restoration suppliers. Most parts had to be hand created or found from very little donor cars out there.

He wanted to make it a 2+2 clone that had some factory look to it. 2+2's came factory with a 390 HP 427 Chev engine and optional 4 speed. He had considered taking an actual 2+2 and doing this but then the family history and feel would be lost.

It now has a GM ZZ502 painted and with exhaust manifolds to look like a factory 427 "Astro Jet" as they were called in Pontiacs in Canada. Also with the addition of a Tremec 5 speed standard. The factory 12 bolt has posi and 4.11 gears added. Other upgrades include new power windows, dash gauges, bucket & console, disk brakes.

These are photos taken the other day now that it is finished.

The "116" plate is the same the car had when bought new in Canada in 69.

That's a good looking vehicle.
After spending two years at the shop, I bet she's even better than the day she came out of the factory.

He says it drives like off the showroom floor which is what he wanted. Note the odometer.

SWEET!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I didn't know the 2+2 was even available up through 69. They are very uncommon regardless of the year. I know a father and son that have a 65 and a 66 and those are the only 2+2s I've seen in person.

Love It: My dad had a 68 Canadian Parisienne 2+2 Fast Back with the Slit Front turn signals and Covered Head Light panel - man what a beautifulul grill that car had. He ordered it Special with the ASTRO-FLOW 327 L74, TH400 to a 3.31 12 bolt Posi - Great Cars. The only thing missing is the "ASTRO-JET" Decal on your breather ;o)

Wow, that car is nice! GM Canada states that only TWELVE Canadian full-size Pontiacs were made in 1969 with the 390-horse 427 and 4-speed combination. One was for sale in October 2007 out of Selkirk Ontario (Lake Erie area). It was a bit crusty but original (1 owner too). I had heard the car went to Holland I think.

Holy smoke, that car looks brand new! That is very nice. When I was a kid, we had a 69 Bonneville 2-door. This 2+2 reminds me of the times we had pulling a camper all over the eastern part of the country with it.

Hey, James, what is the black switch on the instrument panel to the left of the "Pontiac" name plate for?

Natureboy71

That is the rear defog switch.

I remember as a kid going on family vacations in this car and sleeping in the back window shelf (and fitting). That was the 70's. Would never do that with my kids now.

As I said earlier every single button, bolt, you name it was either replaced, recreated or restored. It is as nice as off the showroom floor.

That is a really, really nice car!!! Everything is great but having the engine look like a 1969 is especially great. Almost every nice car that I see is a let down under the hood with extra chrome, colored plug wires, braided hose etc. but this one is excellent. I bought a set of GM 427 emblems for a 69 Pontiac back in the early 70's thinking of doing something like you have here, I sold them on ebay a few of years ago to someone in the US. Where did you get your emblems or are they re produced now??

Great car!!

Thanks
Randy

brings back memories! I traded my 1964 Chevelle SS for a 69 Bonneville Brougham and $1200 cash back in the mid 70s. My Bonneville was Verdoro green with black vinyl roof and a black cloth interior with split front seat. tilt a/c power everything and had a 428 in it. Dang trunk was HUGE, at 6-2 I could lay both ways in it and not touch anything.

Very nice job, looks great, I like the enging treatment as well, 502 cubes but looks factory stock, if a 427 is not enough anyway! The last year was '67 for US 2+2's, is that right?

That is one sweet car. The big tires on the back gives it true muscle car look. It seems time and money paid off. Any pics of the underside.

Forgot about this post. I am pretty sure my brother got those 427 emblems years and years ago from a parts car. Saved them and then had them restored for this resto.

Thanks for the reply. I have a friend restoring a 69 2+2 convertible and he needs one 427 emblem. It has casting # 731691 on the back. If you ever hear of an emblem available, please let me know.

Thanks

Here is a site my brother set up actually dedicated to 69 Pontiac B body cars. He used to own the red convertible (I drove it a lot actually). Lots of info on there.
