Hey everyone,
I've finally got my '67 Chevelle running and driving, and I was wondering if anyone can point me to a reference to decode my VIN/Trim Tag

VIN: 138177G108362

What I take this as is the 8362nd car built at the Framingham, Mass. plant, and is a SS396. Is that correct?

The cowl tag is as follows:

128 L
ST 67-13817 FRA 893 BODY
TR 763-B D-D PAINT
W 2ZGSR

I'm guessing the 763 is the type of seats, but I don't know what kind. The D-D is Marina Blue?
I have no idea what the W 2ZGSR is.

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated, and I'd owe ya a 6-pack of your favorite beverage if you're ever in my area graemlins/beers.gif

763 B is indeed black bucket seats
D-D is Marina Blue (lower-upper)

Some plants listed up to 5 groups for options on the body plate, some did not and each group started with that number - except group #1.

W ~ tinted windshield only

2 ~ Group 2
Z ~ M40 TH 400 transmission
G ~ Center console
S ~ Rear antenna
R ~ Rear seat speaker

The top line of your plate doesn't jive. are you sure it's '128' and not '12B'? 12B would be December, 2nd week and should be at the top left side of the plate. The 'L' should be at the top right side of the plate and nobody knows for sure (or won't tell) what this single letter at the top right is for. I have [url=http://www.chevellestuff.com/67stuff/67velle/67_trim_tags-fra.htmthree examples of Framingham plates[/url] and all have some letter.

You're also correct about the production number and it is a SS car. The Fisher Body unit number of '893' is pretty low as well.

Jason, thanks for the site. I figured it would be pretty close by smile.gif

Dale, the site Jason pointed to says D-D is Nantucket blue, not Marina blue. Is that correct? Looking closer at the tag last night, yeah, it is 12B on the top of the tag. So that rear antenna was original, huh? I always thought it was an aftermarket piece. I guess I'll have to try to find it again. I lost the hole that was in the quarter panel when the panel was replaced anyway. Were the rear antennas rare? I don't know if I've seen a car with a rear antenna before.

Thanks for your help!
