I just installed some 2 inch drop spindles on my 70, and now I have a bit of an issue with the headers scrapping the ground. They are by far the lowest point on the car by about 2-3 inches. I looked into some shorty headers but not sure how the exhaust would adapt. Do I need to take it to an exhause shop to have the pipes extended up to the headers, or can you just buy something?

You will probably be in need of an exhaust shop to connect up to the shorties.

There are headers that fit much better - hedman elites, for example. My 2" headers are at the same "height" as my oil pan and engine cradle. I had 1-3/4" Hedman's that fit even tighter before the current set.

I might look into that, that way I can just bolt them in.

I'm glad to read what you say about the Hedman Elite headers. I have a set ready to put in my 64 Elky. I had Hooker 2451s on it before and they just didn't fit right and rubbed in several places. That's why I bought the Hedmans. I looked at several Chevelles and saw that the Hedman headers just fit better than the Hookers.

I happen to have Hooker headers on mine. They were on it when I bought it. Ill definately look into some Headmans.
