Today marks 30 years since I bought my first car. It was a 1966 Chevelle SS396 - yes, the very same one in my sig.

I was 17 then ... now I'm quite a bit older and, I hope, somewhat wiser.

I'm not quite sure how I held onto the 'ol girl all these years, but I did. I halfheartedly put an ad in the paper a few years ago to try to sell it. I had parked it in 1991 or so, and I was getting tired of seeing it rotting away in the back yard, so I decided to sell it. :(

Fortunately, it didn't sell, and I got motivated a couple years ago to get 'er back on the road. I've got a lot of work to do, but we're getting there ...

I'd like to thank the members of TC for all the laughs, advice, and answers to my questions over the last 3 years. You guys ROCK!

I only wish I'd discovered this place sooner ... keeps me motivated to keep pushing on.

So, here we are, a lot of years behind us, and, hopefully, many more to go. :beers:

I like those persevering stories.
I bought mine about this time of year in 1985.
Parked mine in 1992.
Hang in there!!! You'll "get er done".
Makes that car special, don't it?
My wife told me a couple of months ago......"why would you ever sell it now when you waited all this time and didn't sell it and now that you got it done you would let someone else enjoy it?". True, true

On March 12, 1966 I picked up my first car, a new Sport Deluxe Beaumont. Still have the '69 Chevelle that I bought new. 43 years go by just as fast as 30 it seems. Have fun while you can. Time flies.

I'm a few years behind....this spring marks my 25th year as a Chevelle enthusiast/owner. I got my first 70 in the spring of 1984, had it for 8 years, traded it for a 70 LS5 that I spent 6 years restoring. Sold it, and have had several other cars since.

A member here, Finally, has my first Chevelle. None of the others have turned up so far.
