Does anyone have the PPG formula for 1966 Mist Blue, paint code 2D. Looking for formula to mix DBU. My local store has it in Omni, but I have hear the Omni line takes forever to cover. Thanks for any help.

I've not had any problems getting Omni to cover, but I seal everything... I don't have a DBU formula for that code.

My PPG guys said it doesn't cover as well. I used the Omni line it on my sons' 66 Nova and will be using the regular PPG (non-Omni, quitr a bit more pricy I may add) for the Chevelle.

I'll using the same primer sealer for both projects.

Only after I've used it will I be able to tell the difference.

The was the guys where I get my PPG paint mixed. He stated something along the lines that the components that are used for Omni are different.

I used OMNI. '69 Frost Green Metallic. Applied over lt grey. Coverage was excellent. Topcoated with OMNI clear - also went on nice and ahs held up well. Car has couple thousand miles on it since being painted - including having been driven in some hard rain and more than a few trips down the 1/4 mile. Quarters have been covered with burnt rubber - no chips. I would use is again.

They just want to sell the higher priced stuff. The only color I had any issue with, was 1984 Hurst Olds Silver, and that took 4 coats to cover instead of 3. The Silver on my 79 TATA covered fine.

When it gets a bit warmer, I'll do a test panel with the new PPG stuff. Then I'll be able to tell.....
