I am tring to install a stock '68 AM FM radio in my '68 El Camino. Anybody done this before? It is a little bigger than the old AM radio and doesn't want to go in like the AM came out. Do I have to remove the whole plastic dash to get the AM FM one in? The AM radio could come in and out through removal of the glovebox but this radio is a little larger. It is the correct AM FM for the car though. Anybody install one of these?
Thanks, Phil

The radio is removed and installed from the bottom. I've emailed a dash removal document to you. #5, 6, & 7 explain the radio removal procedure. You need to remove the ductwork from the heater to give you room to slide the radio out and in.

Thanks, Bill........... I will try it this way. Trying to avoid pulling the whole dash again. I hate the way GM installed dashboards. That's one thing I like about the Fords & Mustangs. The dashes are all metal with plastic used as trim only and everthing comes out from the underside.
Thanks, Phil
