: 66 (Chinese) disc brake spindles that don't fit stock rotors

Greetings. I have a 66 Chevelle that was converted 30 years ago to discs. I know I'm running 68 rotors( I've replaced them). In Sept some kid on the phone pulled out of a sidestreet and T boned me. To make a long story short ,I needed to replace a lower a arm and spindle. The a arm was easy( got new one locally). I called around to the Chevelle guys and finally found a set of new spindles, on the web. They were advertised as stock replacements and of better quality than GM.
Here is the problem. They push my rotor out about 3/16ths of an inch. I didn't even realize it until I tried to put my caliper back on. It took 2 guys about an hour to put on 1 caliper. (We were working in a tent in the cold rain). I didn't realize how far out the caliper sat till I saw it in the body shop.THe weird thing is, they fit the spindle length. The spindle nut is in the right place.
I contacted the guys I bought them from and got every excuse in the free world( they suggested I try bigger wheels) before I realized they were not car guys just importers of Chinese crapp.I might as well have been speaking French.
Has anybody else had this problem? I'd try their rotors but I don't like the idea of weird parts on my car that are hard to find(and can't be bought over a counter in super-boonie USA). Should I try one of their caliper brackets( I'm not real keen on this either -because of small town availability)?Everything else is as it was( I haven't replaced that rotor or bearings yet.)

ditch the Chinese crap and find a drum spindle in the junkyard and make it into a disc spindle. it's really easy.

In fact while your at the junk yard don't forget to take the removed unit for scrapping......Should be worth a nickle or so. They refused to take mine since they had been powder coated........

Please PM me who you get it from if you don't feel right about posting up here?

I ask b/c I recently sold a good used set of '74 Apollo caliper brackets to a guy b/c he said his new re-popped ones didn't allow the calipers to fit stock.

They fit, but I think he said they rubbed the back inner rims a schosh.

I purchased the spindles from Fatrodder. They sell a whole bunch of disc brake kits. But their ad stated that these spindles would work with stock components(which they will not). The only person there that seemed to be somewhat knowledgable told me they sell lots of (just) spindles and have not heard of a problem - suggesting that maybe I had a poorly machined spindle. He said he would refund my money. The problem is - the car is in a body shop that does only custom work(the owner is actually retired) and we all know how long that takes. I can't take off the spindle in question until I get the car back, and I'm not going to get that opportunity until late this summer.(the body guy is un-matchable in quality, but this ain't "overhaulin" and I'm not getting my car back in a week)
I don't like parts that are not obtainable at a local parts house. I drive this car alot. Its nothing for me to travel 1000 miles to get to a car show.
I just wondered if anybody else had this same situation. I was unaware you could get drum spindles to work . I need something that will function with my other GM parts.
Can you imagine how much fun I'm having with the insurance company? When this is over, I'm going to get on every car forum I can find and cost them as much business as I can.You think just because you have agreed value classic car insurance you're safe and covered?Guess again.
thanks
