We seized a '72 Chevelle yesterday (drug seizure) and I could use a little help with it
On the front engine pad
T0318CLB and stamped kind of over or under it
111157607

On the body tag (kind of hard to read)

72 13637 0s474366
ST ADY
703 53 D PN
Any clues as to what I have here ? It appears he was building a SS396 clone. Interior is trashed. The body and paint is quite nice tho. Once the seizure has cleard the courts and the car goes to public auction we're allowed to go bid on them. Hmmmm...Maybe a new project ?? :D

Why don't I add the vin 1d37f21514407

Well the motor checks out to be a '72 402 Chevelle as a choice. I'll let someone else delve into the trim tag. I think the VIN tells you its a '72 Malibu 2 dr, built with a 307.

You guys rock! Thanks for the help. Thats a pretty anemic big block but.....a big block none the less. The car will never be a high dollar collector but it will make a great toy. Might have to keep my eye on this one. Thanks again

Hi Guys,

111157607 breaks down this way

1 = Chevrolet Motor Division
1 = model year 1971
1 = assembly plant code for Oshawa Ontario
157607 = last six digits of the car this engine was installed in at the Oshawa plant.

My guess is a full size car, it sure wasn't a Chevelle wrong first number for the start of the sequence number. Also not a '72 but '71 engine if the numbers are correct.

Don't have any resource books handy to confirm if this application code was in use for '71.

Ya we know it's not the original motor Vinny. But if it's a '71 instead of '72 it's probably got a little more HP ??? I have this on another post too but I can't find the vin on the veh itself. I know what it is thru paperwork and running the registration...but where do I find it on the car ?
