I am trying to restore a 69 chevelle radio and speaker setup from a chopped up aftermarket setup and have questions. The car originally had a push button mono am radio. I actually have a nice working 70 push button radio that looks no different, it only has a different connection configuration.

Can I purchase a 70 wiring harness and connect it directly into my 69 wiring?

It appears that I have a small square plug with a yellow wire and a black wire coming from the main dash harness, is this intended to be the factory ground and hot wire to the radio?

Should there only be the one speaker in the front center of the dash or was there also a rear speaker in the mono setup?

Jesse, have you looked at the radio tech section? http://www.chevelles.com/radiotech/

yes, extensively, but these questions are not answered by the radio tech section.

I don't think the 70 radio will fit in the 69 dash. You may want to check that before modifying anything.
I do know that the 69 radio doesn't fit in the 70 dash.

Thank you I will double check to make sure it fits.

The radio will fit the dash bezel. I still have the same questions.

A 1970 radio will fit your 1969 dash with no problems. the yellow wire is the 12V power supply for your radio and black is the ground. If you can find a '70 parts car you may be able to get the radio wiring and plug to splice into your harness. Any 1970 Chevrolet car model will work.

A complete wiring harness for a '70 is very different than your '69 harness.

You can have just the one speaker in the dash or as an option put another one in the right rear package tray area. You'll need a fader switch to make it correct.
