I'm working on taking my front steering linkage out today, and ran into a snag. Everything is off except where the center link connects to the arm that comes out of the power steer box. Can anybody shed some light on how these come apart?

Are you using a ball joint fork to seperate it? I know they can be a pain. Sometimes you can put some pressure on the centerlink by prying down on it with a large pry bar, and then hit the area of the pitman arm that the tapered shaft of the centerlink goes through with a ball pean hammer, this usually will pop it loose.

Use the floor jack as a dolly, and put it underneath the pitman arm, close to the center link. Dont put much pressure on it. Then, whack the stud (with the nut backed off), and it should pop off.

All I had to do was come in the house and make this post. I went back out, decided to give it one more whack with the hammer, and viola! It came loose :)
Next time (if there is one) I may try the pickle fork idea though.....might be better than hammering on it like that.
