I bought a 69 Chevelle Malibu, and got the title and ownership papers and all, have it registered in my name and such....when I went to the smog guys to get it smogged they tried to find the vin# but couldnt....They sent me back to the MVD to get a vin# verification....now they couldnt find it either, I have to go to the level 2 inspection tomorrow, where is the damn vin# on this thing?

it should be on the top of the dash, on the driver's side?

I guess they put in a dash pad, and it may be covering the vin plate...is there anywhere else the vin is? I dont want to have to rip out the dash.

Behind the heater box. I think the dash pad is easier to remove. :D

You bought a car and didn't verify the VIN against the title. Not a good practice in this day and age.

yeah..it was dumb to not verify the vin, but it all worked out...I pulled up the new dash material and found that the vin was sitting really high on the drivers side(why did they cover it like that) but everything matched up and I passed smog. YAY graemlins/beers.gif

Hey, you're lucky times three:
1. that your VIN plate was intact,
2. that it matches the title for the car,
3. that the car passed smog test!
Firey Pit-O Hell, AZ ? :D That's a good one. Maybe true in the summer, but now it's bee-yoo-teeful graemlins/thumbsup.gif
