I have a 70ss with power brakes. There is a small amount of break fluid leaking where the master cylinder bolts to the booster. Is this the rubber boot on the back of the cylinder or the gasket. And if it's either one of these can I still get parts to fix it or do I need to replace the master cylinder. Thank you to you all for all your help and advice. Bob

Make sure it's not a leaky lid, fluid can run out the back and down and give the appearence of a leaking m.c. If it's not the lid then it's time to pull the m.c. and have it rebuilt or get a new one,if your seeing fluid there.

Just my $0.02...if its leaking your choices are 1. repair it yourself 2. Install a "rebuilt" 3. Install a new master cylinder. Least likely to cause you hassles is a new one. I personally wouldn't even consider a "rebuilt". If I'm going to work with a used part, I'll install a kit myself. If the bore isn't scored or pitted, a kit will probably make it work good as new.
Last time I had an American car master cylinder problem, I was in the Philippines. Got a "rebuilt stateside" locally and it leaked. Had my Dad send me a new one Raybestos or Wagner, I don't remember. '73 Pontiac Catalina w/pb.
