On the very top left of the tag is an ST then 04a. Then below that is part of my vin . Then below that is TR 729. Then the upper right side has 742. Below that is the Balxxxxx ( I understand this). Below that is e4. Below that is 168689. Then the very bottom right corner near the rivit? Is 2 Can you decode this mess?

Thanks

04A is the final assembly time, April (04), 1st week (A)

Nothing to do with your VIN is on the number plate. Common misconception. The number behind BAL is the Fisher Body unit number and has nothing to do with your VIN. Your VIN is on the drivers side A-pillar about half way down and would read something like 136677B100001. The '100001' is the sequential assembly number of the car with '100001' being the first Chevelle off the Baltimore line.

729 is the interior trim code, Med. Blue Imitation Leather in this case.

If the '742' is on the same line as the assembly date of 04A, then it's the job number from the trim broadcast sheet.

BALxxxx is the Fisher Body number...again, not the VIN.

E4 is the upper/lower paint color. 'E' is Deepwater Blue and the 4 is for a blue convertible top...I assume it's a convertible?

I have examples of 15 Baltimore tags for 67 and every one of them has a number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc) in either the lower right or top right corner. To date, nobodys knows just what these mean but they're apparently some sort of tracking code.

A picture or a line-by-line alignment of the tag would be easier to decipher. Positions of numbers and letters mean a lot. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
