I know I'm outside the year model window, but I've been trying to locate a ragjoint for my brother's 78 El Camino. Don't really want the repair kit. Any ideas? I don't have my sources that I used to. After 22 years of loyalty to the company, CarQuest decided a couple of weeks ago that they didn't need my services any longer. I knew we were trimming the fat like everyone else, but I thought with my track record and seniority, I was fairly secure. Wrong! Anyway, if anyone knows where I might find this ragjoint, I would appreciate it.

Should be able to find them on one of these sites or ebay. Good luck

skip the rag joint, and get the steering shaft from a mid 90's jeep Grand Cherokee.
it is a bolt in deal in all G bodies with an actual u-joint instead of the rag joint, and they are said to be dirt cheap in junkyards.
it's one of the things i want to get for the T Type this year.

Derrick, are you fairly certain it will fit back as far as 78? And if so, I wonder how much it would be new from Chrysler? Thanks.

all A and G bodies from 78-88 use the same steering shaft, and the MonteSS guys are all over the Grand Cherokee steering shaft swap. one member over on the www.montecarloss.com board has made a little bit of a career of buying every shaft he finds at the local boneyards, cleaning and painting them up, and selling them on ebay for about $50.

Thanks, Derrick. I'll go to the salvage yard Monday. What year range of Gr. Cherokees do I need to source.
