With GM saying they are going discontinue Pontiac all together will this become a Chevy (like it should have been) or just scrapped? Assuming GM survives...

I'd like to see that come back. It has been rumored for a while.

The Australian version of this truck, the Ute, is already being built down there. Wouldn't take much for GM to bring it here as they did with the GTO. Might fit into Pontiac's niche market that they are supposed to be going into.

It was cancelled a few months ago.

That car just looks strange to me for some reason. Kind of reminds of a Suburu Brat instead of an El Camino. That mini cooper however, cant complain. Love the pic in the black, darn near see through outfit.

Hate to see pontiac go away, all those poor little GTO's left out there without their mother. :(

Read something when the Pontiac version was first introduced that GM brought it in as a Pontiac because the changes they thought it needed to make it look like a Chevy would mean having to re-crash test and recertify the vehicle which is big $$$ for a low volume vehicle. Apparently the Pontiac version was close enough to the Holden version not to need that. So $$$ won out over nostalgia.

You gotta figure some enterprising aftermarket outfit would have eventually come up with a bolt-on fascia and badges to let folks change it into an El Camino.

General Motors has never said that the Pontiac Motor Division was going out. Several news articles have made it sound that way, but they are wrong.

Pontiac was always a niche market.

Pontiac wasn't always a niche market - back in the 50's and 60's they were right up there and at one time #3 in sales..... remember, if it weren't for Pontiac slipping that little "option package" past GM brass in 1964, Chevy may never have had an SS Chevelle worth a squat.... I mean, it did take Chevy 2 years to play catch up (unless you count the 201 cars made in 1965 "caught up" :noway:)
