If 1EN140724 is hand stamped onto the trans case then its the VIN derivative from the car that originally had this trans factory installed.

1 - The GM division is Chevrolet
E - The model year is 1984
N - The final car assembly plant is Norwood, Ohio
140724 - Is the last 6 digits from the cars VIN, VIN's started at 100001, so this was in the 40,724 vehicle built in Norwood. Appears to come from a Camaro. Firebird were also built in Norwood but would have a 2 as the first digit.
