: Baltimore built 69 question
macs69 Feb 12th, 04, 11:24 AM Thanks in advance again for your help. My vin is 136379B333823, and I can't see my car's build date because the rivet on the cowl tag is over numeric digits. Does anybody on here have a Baltimore built car near this build sequence, so I can determine my build date? All I can see is
"??A" on the tag.
70chevelle.ss396 Feb 12th, 04, 11:55 AM I am not sure if it helps at all but mine was built the third week of January 01C and the sequence is B143732.

from Baltimore
macs69 Feb 12th, 04, 12:46 PM Is the sequence number on the cowl tag, or part of the vin? Mine is as follows:
ST 69 13637 BAL175240BDY
TR 790 61 61 PNT
A BL095366
Vin is 136379B333823

Feb, 1st week - body #107239
Feb, 4th week - body #262249
June, 2nd week - body #259026
June, 4th week - body #275522

TR 790 61 61 PNT

The 'A' is for the first week of some month. Possibly the month number (01..12) is under the rivet?
Comparing the last line to what info I have, the 536 portion of the number is the trim inspection sequence number found on the trim card. The others I'm sure have to do with other assembly line processing. I only have one 1969 build sheet example (and I think it's not real) so I can't compare any other numbers without one. The 'B' appears to be unique to Baltimore tags (at least 68 through 72). The 'L' is more common as it appears for other plants as well.
The VIN indicates the same model info as the body number plate (13637); the '9' is for 1969; the 'B' for Baltimore; and the 333823 is the sequential production number. All U.S. plants started their sequence at 300001 for Chevelles in 1969 only. Your's is the 33,823 Chevelle from Baltimore.
macs69 Feb 12th, 04, 2:46 PM The month number is definitely under the rivet, but I didn't want to tamper with it. I was looking for someone who has a '69 with a close VIN number, that way I could get some kind of read on what month it was built. Will that work?
black&redss Feb 12th, 04, 2:53 PM My Atlanta built 69 had a vin.# starting with 332XXX, and it was built the 2nd. week of March 69...Hope this helps..........
macs69 Feb 12th, 04, 3:00 PM Would the vin's from different plants all be sequential? Guess they would have to? Based on yours, mine would probably be first week of April, or May?

orig69ss Feb 12th, 04, 9:31 PM This might help,my car is March built car from Baltimore, and the vin is 136379b361xxx. The car has a o3b build date which is the second week of March, hope this helps. smile.gif
YenkoChevelle69 Feb 13th, 04, 12:33 AM Hey Don, so are you saying that 2 cars can have the same sequential vin if they are from different plants?
Just for the sake of arguement..... My Kansas City SS car is 136379K369437 and my malibu is a Framingham car. Could the malibu have easily been 136379G369437?
elcamino Feb 13th, 04, 7:15 AM Yes it would and do.
The only difference being the Plant ID code.
Also a VIN built in March at one plant will not match the same time period at another plant. All plants had different operation rates, some build more cars, some built less.
Deluxe 300 SS Feb 13th, 04, 8:18 AM The rivet on my car almost covers the date, but mine was built the second week of June and is B387XXX
Hope this narrows it down.
Bill Pritchard Feb 13th, 04, 9:15 AM My previous 69 Chevelle was a Baltimore car, 04A (1st week of April) and the sequence # was 368xxx.
Dean Feb 13th, 04, 12:01 PM My 69 has 02C 02382 on the trim tag
Is that the number you are talking about Dale?
136379K403669
02C 02382
KAN 251572 BDY
...........71 BPNT
............L
is the "B" for black vinyl top?
YenkoChevelle69 Feb 13th, 04, 12:06 PM yep Dean, it sure is. Black top.
