Hey guys,
My father has owned his 68 SS 396 Chevelle since the vehicle was a year old, and recently passed it on to me. I know the vehicle is a genuine SS and am aware of which options came with it, however I was hoping someone could help me decode the cowl tag in case there's something about the car that I've missed. The cowl tag looks like this:

MADE IN CANADA
A51C08D55M4OT-27

ST 68 13837 OS2O7874 Body
TR 766 1-5-2 9KK Paint

thanks to whoever might be able to help me!

Based on two other 68 Canadian Chevelle tags and one Beaumont tag I have:

MADE IN CANADA
A51C08D55M4OT-27A51 ~ Sport bucket seats
C08 ~ Exterior soft trim roof cover (vinyl top)
D55 ~ Front compartment floor console
M40 ~ 3-speed automatic (THM 400)
T-27 ~ got me there, but one tag I have has the same code and it has a black vinyl top as indicated on its build sheet.

ST 68 13837 OS2O7874 Body
TR 766 1-5-2 9KK PaintST 68 ~ Style 1968
1 ~ Chevelle
38 ~ SS396
37 ~ 2-door sport coupe
OS ~ Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
207874 ~ Fisher Body unit number

TR 766 ~ Black Imitation Leather (bucket seats)
1-5-2 ~ The '5-2' is month day of assembly. One Chevelle and one Beaumont tag have this same 3-digit code configuration. The Chevelle has '2-9-20' (Sept 20) and the Beaumont has '1-10-27' (Oct 1). Point being, the 2nd and 3rd numbers are the date but I can't find information yet on the significance of the first number.
9 ~ ?
KK ~ Tripoli Turquoise - Note: US-built Chevelles usually have lower/upper paint here meaning if this were a KC, Atlanta, etc built Chevelle, this would indicate a solid body color. Oshawa cars apparently used two letters but separately indicated a vinyl top when so equipped. Possibly, US-built Chevelle tops were not fully painted when equipped with a vinyl top and Oshawa-built Chevelles were (?)

See http://www.chevellestuff.com/68velle/68_trim_tags-os.htm for other 68 Oshawa examples I have.

In any event, you're the lucky new owner of a 68 SS with a nice, traceable history. Congratulations!
