Hi everyone,

I am in the process of filling in (on a separate sheet of paper) the missing (rusted out) areas on my build sheet for my 1970 El Camino. My friend has a 71 that I was able to get some of the codes but unfortunatly, his is rusted out in some of the same areas mine are. My question to all of you 70-72 el camino owners that have your buildsheet is what is the frame code in box number 11? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to piece together the missing parts would greatly be appreciated.

Never seen an Elky build sheet but I know 'XU' is a 2 dr Malibu and 'XV' is a convertible.

Yeah, I was able to find the frame code for a 2 dr sports coupe but nothing for either a station wagon or an el camino. I figure that the station wagon and el camino would be the same frame since they were basically the same car only the el camino was a chopped version of the station wagon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, the elky and the station wagon were not the same frames, the sta wag did not have a boxed frame and the elky did.

John,

Just curiuos, what is in your box 11? I think it was a two letter code for the frame but I could be wrong. Thanks for any help.

Al and Keith,

Thanks a million for that info. My elky was also built at the Leed's plant. I think I have all of the boxes taken care of now but there still might be one or two more boxes that I can not read. I will have to go back and check so you might be getting an email from me with another question or two. Again, thanks a lot and chalk another answer gotten from this great board.

You're welcome, Brian. Keith(lucky dude) has his doc. I don't. I can only tell you what is physically on my El Camino. Glad I could help.

Al,

I fortunatly found my buildsheet however with where it was, there was a rust colored spot which made the part of the build sheet completely unreadable. I am just going back through and writing the codes down should something happen to my original one.

Brian,
I guess 71's are different than 70.Baltimore built. In box 11 it says axle and is unreadable, two letter starts with
C or G.It might say GF.Box 12 is for frame and is a three letter code CHF.Actually mine is in pretty good shape and the only boxes I can't read is 11 and 23 exhaust.
Dale,
I don,t have a way to scan this but if you want send me an address and I'll send you a photocopy.
