70 SS Chevelle. The seal that goes on the cowl, not the hood. Is the seal supposed to be glued on or does it have clips? Mine appears to be glued on. Could be clipped and glued. I noticed that the aftermarket suppliers offer clips too.

They originally had steel clips. The supplied ones with the new seal are usually plastic and they don't fit in the original holes. I've never had one that was glued on.

Ground Up sells the metal clips and Year One sells only the seal and clips as a kit.

It's been asked before - which way does the seal go on: open side facing front or open side facing rear? Guys with unmolested cars have indicated both ways. Apparently it doesn't matter from a functional standpoint nor did it make much difference to the person on the line installing the seal. The open side on my seal faces the windshield and works just fine.
