How would you know if it's a SS? Only paperwork will prove it. Since the 396 was an option in 69, any 396/402/454/502 is a bolt-in. Badges only require drilling the holes. One thing often overlooked in a fake/clone/whatever is the steering column rag joint (http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/misc_stuff.htm).
Engine is a warranty replacement.
C ~ Chevrolet
E ~ Engine
9 ~ production year
51055 - Built at Tonawanda with numbering staring with 50000; 1,055th warranty engine produced.
