: Grand Theft Auto IV - How do I save the game?
Olle Mar 9th, 09, 10:13 PM Ok, I might be an idiot, but installing this game and signing up all over the Internet just to be able to play it was the biggest PITA ever! I have spent two evenings trying to sign up for Windows Live, but it still won't work. No confirmation/activation e-mail, no nothing, just a nagging login screen that you can't get rid of.
The manual doesn't offer much help, but it seems like I have had some success today: I created an offline account that supposedly makes it possible to play the game and save to your hard drive, instead of that stupid online save "feature". So now I'm able to play without the sign-in garbage, I just need to know how to save the game... Does it autosave somehow, or do I have to save manually? In that case, how do I do it? I'm so frustrated that I'm ready to use the DVDs for target shooting now!
Chris R Mar 9th, 09, 10:55 PM Have you tried checking or asking on the GTA forums? I have been there several times in the past when I have had problems with other GTA games. Although my problems have been more gameplay related. How do I get past this mission, how do I find that item, etc.

BlueSS454 Mar 10th, 09, 12:18 AM If you are playing it on PS3, it autosaves everytime you complete a mission. You can also save it by going into a Safe House, walk over to the bed, and the save game message will come up. I would think that the Safe House way would work for the online version as well.
I've gotten myself pretty deep into this game. I'm maybe close to halfway complete. The thing that pisses me off about it is, once you get all these contacts, they keep calling; texting; and emailing you to go do activities and whatnot. I don't want to do that crap, I just want to do missions, shoot people, and smash cars up
mjdwyer23 Mar 10th, 09, 7:01 AM I just finished the game. At that point, I was really only finishing it to be done. The game doesn't offer much past the bland storyline, hell you can't even go onto the airport in single player EVER. Back to COD WAW...

I'm hooked on Call of Duty United Offensive. Felt the same way about GTA. Great fun at first, but soon became to repetitive.
Play cod against other people, never the same. The smack talk is hilarious.
When I'm online I usually play in Foy on the Happy Penguin server.

I'm playing on PC, but it seems like the "go to bed" thing works. It's my son who's playing it (dad is too busy with CoD WaW) so I don't know yet if it autosaves at the end of a mission or not, but I would suspect that it does. But in any case, if he stays up to late playing this game I'll just tell him: "Go to bed" and it will take care of everything.

I used to have one of those too. I think I had 4 games for it. I still have my original NES system.
