So I have a bunch of passenger side air bags from some trans am parts cars..doesnt seem that anyone ever needs em, and they are taking up space. Do I just put 12v on the connector to set it off? :D I figure I will make a few videos and blow up some stuff. Last swap meet I was at a drunk guy was trying to do it while leaning over the bag  Luckily either he was too drunk to make the connection or the bag was a dud, I figure I can do better even after a few beers :D

Use very long leads to the battery, 50 feet worth. You won't believe the bang, or the altitude you can get. Its no wonder people are banged up from when they deploy. Daren

Beware of setting them off upside down, they will go high enough to damage anything they land on. We have a stand at the dealership designed to hold an airbag for deployment. You need at least 25-30 feet of wire to be safe. They CAN kill you.

You mean he can't talk someone into standing on one when he sets it off??? Man! I wanted to see that video!:D

Truthfully they are dangerous. Few years back a guy at one of the local bodyshops was left deaf in one ear and lost an eye after having one go off unexpectedly.

Baby decapitated by airbag. It doesn't say in this article but I heard the head was actually thrown out the window.

Air Bag Decapitates 1-Year-Old Passenger In Parking-Lot Crash

AP

BOISE, Idaho - An air bag decapitated a 1-year-old girl in a low-speed collision between two cars at a parking lot.

The accident last night triggered the passenger-side bag in a Volkswagen Jetta driven by the victim's mother, 21-year-old Rebecca Blackman. Alexandra Greer was killed.
"It otherwise would have been a minor traffic accident," police Lt. Tim Rosenvall said.

Blackman rear-ended a car near Boise Towne Square Mall, witnesses said. It was not immediately clear how fast the cars were traveling.

The girl was in an infant seat, police said.
Air bags deploy at up to 200 mph and have been blamed for the deaths of 31 children and 20 adults - mostly smaller women - in low-speed crashes they could have survived.

In response, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is requiring strongly worded warning labels about air bags in new cars and is considering other changes, such as bags that deploy less forcefully.
Warnings also are being issued today in millions of pamphlets and letters. About 30 companies, primarily automakers and insurers, have financed the information push.

Leaflets will be passed out at highway rest areas nationwide during the Thanksgiving holiday.

They say that children 12 and younger can be killed by air bags and should ride with seat belts in the rear seat. Small adults and children who sit in front of an air bag should wear seat belts, and parents should never put a baby in a rear-facing child seat in front of an air bag.

I seen a video a while back where a guy took his undeployed airbags, wired a bunch of them together and placed them underneath a used pickup truck box turned upside down and launched it in the air about 20-30 feet. It was pretty cool, seems like it was on youtube. Have fun, be careful.
