Hey guys, I just bought a 1969 Chevelle SS 396, or so I think it is. It has paint code 72 72 on the tag, this tells me that it is an SS correct? Also could someone please decode this vin # for me? I'd really appreciate it....136379A315828

Just to elaborate on what Albert has mentioned, my understanding is "A" is for Atlanta Plant while "R" is for Arlington ;)

Holy crap, that is an EARLY car. What is the build date, do you know? 15828 must put it in october of 68 maybe? I have a POP for an November '68-built '69 model from Atlanta with a VIN sequence number of 7,416 and another with 33,264 built in March of '69. A third Atlanta POP I have is VIN sequence number 53,686 that's an August (3rd week) car. the 3rd week of August is very late for that year's production to continue.

BTW, 'A' is for Atlanta (Lakewood), GA. Arlington didn't start building Chevelles until the '70 model year. Al must not have had his morning coffee yet, he knows his stuff...musta still been a bit asleep ;)
