First off guys, let me say that you are the greatest for helping people like me out. I know you don't get a whole hearted thank you very often, so THANK YOU!

Now, for business, could you decode this?

ST 69 13637 KAN 198596
TRM 755 72 B PNT
12C 04942 L

So far I get 69, Kansas plant, bench seat, Monaco orange with black top, December 3rd week.

Yenko, I think you've decoded about all you can.
Although, I think there has been some discussion about that last 'L'. If memory serves me correct, it seems that L has come up on a lot of Kansas City cars.

So far I get 69, Kansas plant, bench seat, Monaco orange with black top, December 3rd week. The '04942' is the last part of the DP Sequence Number from Box 24 on the build sheet. Of the 9 tags I have for Kansas cars, 8 have the letter 'L'. However, the meaning of the 'L' is unknown at this time AFAIK as someone else here said they've seen it on known 6-cyl cars as well. The paint code 72 was only available on the SS through normal RPO channels; one could order any almost any paint color (Chevelle or not) on any Chevelle through the COPO process but it's still a pretty good indicator of a 69 SS car.

The '198596' in the upper right is the Fisher Body unit number assigned when GM ordered the car to be built and would show up on the build sheet (block 24) and the shipping order (line one under Ident Number).

A tidbit of info on Kansas City (Leeds) built cars. Those of you with build sheets can confirm this.

The DP SEQ NO from box 24.

The body number is the first part of this sequence number. Thats why only a partial number is on the lower trim tag. Of all the plants, Leeds is the only one to do it this way.

As Dale says, the L meaning is not known.

Is it possible that the L stand for Leeds? were there any other plants in the area?
